The electronic dance music community has come a long way and is finally getting the recognition it deserves. The Fox TV Network recently announced that it will broadcast the first ever Electronic Music Awards & Foundation Show on April 23. Legendary DJ, Paul Oakenfold, is set to produce the award show along with TV4 Entertainment. This award ceremony dedicated solely to electronic music is an opportunity to provide a platform for more autonomy and diversity among electronic artists and the EDM community.

Voting will begin on February 15 for categories that include: Album of the Year, Single of the Year, DJ of the Year, Radio Show of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Best New Artist. Categories will also include two non-artist awards: Club of the Year, and Festival of the Year.  While Fox is claiming that the show will be attended by “electronic music’s leading artists, creatives, executives and visionaries,” no major EDM artists have committed to the show as of yet.
