Powdered alcohol is a thing – and it hasn’t been doing so hot since it was announced and approved for sale in the United States last March.
Palcohol is a white powder you can mix with water to create three types of cocktails: cosmopolitans with vodka, margaritas with tequila, and lemon drops with rum. Its website claims to be “safer than liquid alcohol.” It consists of 55 percent alcohol – a dangerously high amount.
Though the idea was initially praised by many who saw the perks of easily transportable liquor, numerous states are fighting for a ban to be imposed against Palcohol. The Baltimore City Health Department is the latest to raise its concerns about the powder, claiming that it could lead to “abuse and misuse among both youth and adults.”
