m83 junk

The long wait is finally over. After a long five years, M83’s new album, Junk, will be released April 8 through Mute Records. Junk will be a follow-up to their 2011 album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming which features their biggest hit to date, “Midnight City.”

According to The Verge, the French electronic group, spearheaded by Anthony Gonzalez, completed the album back in December. However, the album does not feature longtime keyboards/backup vocalist Morgan Kibby, who left the group prior to the recording sessions. Gonzalez has put out an open call for a new member to replace Kibby. Despite this change, M83 mastermind is excited for the direction of the new album telling Entertainment Weekly: “It’s a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism. It’s very epic. There’s a lot of different genres that are not supposed to live together but I tried to make them live together, which is quite challenging.
“It’s also quite different from the previous albums, which is what I’m the most proud of.”

With a new album set to release, M83 also have a massive tour scheduled out. Check out M83’s full tour schedule below.
