Tragic news for music lovers all over the world. Legendary music icon Prince, born Prince Rodgers Nelson, passed away today at the age of 57. The exact cause of his death is currently unconfirmed.

Multiple sources report that Prince’s body was found at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota, earlier this morning (April 21).

His untimely death follows a health related incident which took place only six days ago. Prince’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois, where his PR representatives stated the entertainer was suffering a bad case of the flu. Prince actually appeared at a concert the following day to reassure his fans of his good health. Before this, Prince recently canceled two shows due to health concerns.

Prince will be deeply missed. The superstar was the winner of seven Grammy’s in his lifetime along with an Oscar for Best Original Song Score for the feature film “Purple Rain”. He was inducted into the hall of fame in 2004 where he performed an unparalleled version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

Prince’s legendary 2007 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, playing on a guitar-shaped stage in the hammering rain, is simply impossible to forget. While people all over the world grieve his loss, let us also remember to celebrate and cherish all the beautiful music this man brought into our lives.
