Last month, The Weeknd and Cashmere Cat leaked photos of a studio session that seemed to emulate an upcoming collaboration. And today it looks like the pair have released an unofficial teaser for the upcoming collab!
This morning, Cashmere Cat took to Twitter to announce the news that he would be dropping the first single from his new album, Wild Love, this Friday, August 26th.In an Instagram post, the producer shared another image of himself working in the studio with The Weeknd with the caption “wild love”, so there is little doubt that this will be their collaboration.
And it seems as though The Weeknd has dropped a mysterious audio clip this morning as well, with a black background and nothing more then the cat emoji. Seems as though he’s excited about what could possibly (probably) be the new single as well.
The teaser clip lasts only 60 seconds and features what could be assumed as Cashmere Cat’s iconic R&B infused future bass sound. The teaser does not sound like the works of The Weeknd alone, with an uncharacteristic electronic feel to the smooth opening. At the end of the teaser I found myself hitting refresh, wishing there was more. If this is the track designed by the pair, it’s definitely going to be one to watch hit the top of the charts.
