Some people were not happy about the White Ocean luxury camp at Burning Man this year; a “band of hooligans” vandalized it and we now have all of the weird details.
The group attacked White Ocean by gluing trailer doors shut, cutting power lines, dumping 200 gallons of water and destroying the site’s infrastructure.
“This year has been quite the challenge for our camp,” organizers wrote on Facebook. “We have felt like we’ve been sabotaged from every angle, but last night’s chain of events, while we were all out enjoying our beautiful home, was an absolute and definitive confirmation that some feel we are not deserving of Burning Man.”
White Ocean was founded in 2013 by Paul Oakenfold and the son of a Russian billionaire. It’s considered a “plug-and-play” camp, where burners from all over the world can drop in and enjoy luxury accommodations. This revolt is a movement towards “taking Burning Man back from the parasite class, back from the electronic dance music tourists. Taking Burning Man back for the people. This wasn’t much but it’s a great start.” said Tony Wichowski, a Burner.
Police are investigating the incident.
