If you haven’t heard of Harambe by now, you’ve probably never been on the internet. Over the summer a gorilla from the Cincinnati Zoo was fatally shot by his handlers after a young child fell into his enclosure. Since his death the gorilla has inexplicably become a viral sensation.
What started out as a source of outrage and debate online spiraled into a meme trend that is sweeping the world. On par with Dat Boi and Pepe (who starred in the background of Borgore’s show at Imagine Fest) and having surpassed Spongegar in internet fame, it makes sense why the gorilla’s virtual ghost would be a choice holographic backdrop for a major festival like Day For Night.
Harambe’s fame has earned him a side beside the growing list of other deceased celebrity holograms, including legends Tupac and Whitney Houston.
