Atlanta-based rapper Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker, passed away last night after a horrible crash on I-285 in Atlanta. He was famous for his big hit songs “Dey Know” and “Dunn Dunn”. Fulton county police said the crash happened on the exit ramp from Interstate 285 southbound to Cascade Road. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
Reports say Shawty Lo’s white 2016 Audi lost control on the highway around 2:30 am, causing the vehicle to crash through the guardrail, strike a tree and land an a deep embankment. The car then burst into flames. Investigators said the 40-year-old was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Two female passengers were able to escape the car and are currently being treated at a nearby hospital, where they are expected to make a full recovery.
According to Shawty’s instagram, the rapper had visited the Blue Flame Lounge last night shortly before his death. The crash remains under investigation.
Fox News spoke with five of Walker’s eleven children this morning. His daughters said their father taught them valuable lessons about success and working hard to overcome obstacles in life.
“He always taught us to never quit on our dreams and to always make sure we go to school, finish high school, go to college, and make sure you focus on anything you want to achieve in life,” said 23-year-old daughter Brittney Pippins. “I will never forget the look on his face when I graduated from high school, because he never did.”
His other daughter, Tyteanna, said she wants people to remember her father as the happy man that he was. “He helped so many people. He loved his kids and really loved his family, loved Bankhead and he loved going home.” The rapper passed away only a week after his father’s funeral last Saturday.
