Can you believe Halloween is almost a month away?  By now, of course, people are clogging your feed with posts about their Halloween costume ideas. But you too, might scream if you see one more post about dressing up as Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Another Mia Wallace costume? Great. And did you even bother to buy a black cropped wig? No. OK. So you’re just another girl in a white button-down and black trousers holding onto a fake cigarette. And to the girl who thinks she’s goth–yes, I saw your Wednesday Addams costume last year and the year before that. Could you be any more original?

But who am I to complain? I could never wholeheartedly commit to a costume. I love Halloween too, and any excuse to dress up is good enough for me. But, for whatever reason, I’ve never loved the idea of committing 100 percent to one character for the night. Maybe it’s because the Halloween costume ideas available to me when I was growing up were limited only to princess and damsel in distress types, and I didn’t want to pretend I was either. Or maybe it was because, as a child, costumes were merely an ends to a mean–candy–and therefore, really didn’t matter. I don’t rely on neighbors now for my chocolate fix, but I’m also terrified of going to a party like this.

If you love the spirit and creativity of Halloween, but cannot be bothered to go all-out on a Halloween look, here are some pieces you might want to add to your shopping cart. They’ll let everyone know that you love Halloween just as much as the next guy, but you really really cannot be expected to commit to just one look.
