“Is It Over” is based around a somber subject, while still keeping the tone light and playful. The song however was an extremely personal project for one of the duo. “I started writing this song solo a week after my brother had an unexpected stroke at age 31, who afterwards said It’s Not Over while still recovering 9 months later.” Disco Fries, known for their relentless, genre-defying ascension over the past few years, team up with Enhanced label stalwart Shanahan and recent Tritonal album star Shy Martin for this final taste of summertime.
Counting the varied talents of Radiohead and Dr. Dre as their influencers, Disco Fries’ have launched themselves into the mainstream thanks to their Sirius XM BPM hosted radio show “Lift Off”, ardent touring and ability to produce genuinely forward-thinking productions. Shy Martin‘s soft vocals add a tenderness and sincerity to the track, while it’s undeniable rhythm keeps the piece in perfect limbo.
Also in case you were curious, the term Disco Fries means “cheese fries with gravy, generally served at diners in Northeast New Jersey”. Thanks, Google! We take it the boys either named themselves after their favorite snack, or they just want fans to let loose and indulge in their sound. Either way sounds great to us.
