Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella just took to Facebook to announce that Electric Daisy Carnival will not be returning to New York City in 2017.

In the end of a long post regarding Insomniac’s forthcoming events, Rotella announced that the festival will not be taking place this coming year. He wrote, “We hope many of you East Coast Headliners will join us in Vegas. We’ll have an Art Car sound system paying homage to New York DJs past and present. As I write this, I’ve gotta mention all the hard work and creativity that is going into the completely reimagined kineticFIELD, as well as an entirely new ADDITIONAL stage. The team and I are energized about an epic EDC Las Vegas 2017!”

“Although EDC New York 2016 was one of my favorites hosted in the Big Apple, we’ve decided to take a break in 2017.” -Pasquale Rotella

While Las Vegas is the main turf for EDC, it’s clear that many fans are upset about the nixing of the festival. Although EDC Las Vegas will be bigger and better than ever, it definitely comes with a way larger price tag than the festival’s East Coast installment.

Rotella also mentioned the expansion of Countdown NYE to two nights, a venue change for Beyond Wonderland SoCal, an official announcement for EDC Japan, and much more. Check out his full post below.
