Louis Tomlinson just released his debut solo single, “Just Hold On,” on iTunes, and the electro-house single has already been getting a lot of hits.

The former One Direction star wrote the song, which is a joint project between Steve Aoki and Tomlinson, in honor of his mother who passed away due to leukemia. The singer recently made a surprise performance on the semi-final of Season 13 of “The X Factor UK” on Dec. 10 with Aoki to premiere the song.

After Tomlinson’s live heartfelt performance, “X Factor” judge Simon Cowell praised the former One Direction member for being brave to sing the song.

“Louis, I have to say something to you. I’ve known you now for six years. What you’ve just done, and the bravery, I respect you as an artist, I respect you as a person. And your mom was so proud of you Louis, and she was so looking forward to tonight, she’s watching down on you now, and you’ve done her proud. Steve, you’re a great friend to Louis, thank you so much,” said Cowell.

“Just Hold On” is produced by Aoki and written by the DJ and Tomlinson alongside Eric Rosse, Sasha Sloan and Sir Nolan.
