Do Work’s own beats & proto-Grime producer RVWR (pronounced “RAWR”) has just unleashed a full-out wild 3-track EP, ironically titled Cupcake, on Germany’s premiere Hip Hop and beats label Ching Zeng.

For some background: RVWR is currently number 11 on the Good Hope charts, a popular South African radio station, for his collab with EJ Von Lyrik & Benbo called “Keep It Funky.” He reached number 1 on the national iTunes Hip Hop chart with his Khuli Charna and Cassper Noyvest “All Hail” release, and has now just unleashed this insane EP. It’s been a #blessed year for RWVR and his devoted fans.

This EP stands as the 30th release on Ching Zeng and falls somewhere between afrobeat, grime and trap. We will let you be the judge, but between those three you can’t go wrong. The opening track, “Cupcake,” starts out with a rising wobble beat progressing into a distinct trap percussion. The song is futuristic, almost militaristic in it’s steady rhythm. Next up is “Stroke,” a more sinister melody creeping up to muffled grimy vocals. It’s a heady piece that I can picture playing perfectly to any dance floor. “Untl” is the final track, significantly more bold and futuristic than the first two. It offers an intense futuretrap ending to this gloriously grimy EP.
