Even though the song “My Boo” came out over ten years ago, it has made a comeback like no one imagined in 2016. The Ghost Town DJ’s track’s return was largely due to the viral “running man” dance that took over the internet earlier this year. One of electronic music’s most prized artists has taken it even one step further, by creating his own version of the song, and that artist happens to be the one and only Flume.
Flume isn’t the only artist to credit for this one. Joining him on the remix are the very talented vocalists Kuçka, Vera Blue, Ngaiire, and rapper Vince Staples. The remix was premiered on Aussie radio station Triple J’s “Like A Version” series, where artists all over the world are asked to come into the studio to play one of their own songs, as well as a cover of a song they love.
The track is infused with Flume’s signature synths and drums, and each vocalist does a phenomenal job adding their own flavor. Vince Staples, I must say, sounds perfect on the track, and I hope he and Flume continue to collab in the future.
In a modern world that seems to be littered with sorry internet memes in bad taste, the revival of “My Boo” by Flume is a refreshing and pleasant positive. Thanks, Internet.
