After releasing their debut Like What EP and touring North America with M83 last fall, brother-sister duo Tennyson are back today to share a new collaborative project with Los Angeles based producer Mr. Carmack via Red Bull Sound Select.
If you are not familiar with Tennyson and Mr.Carmack, a brief history is in order. Tennyson, consisting of Luke and Tess, have been playing music together since, basically, forever. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta with a drummer for a father, there wasn’t much else to do. While Mr. Carmack is a Hawaii-based producer blurring the distinction between hip hop and dance music in a progressive style that has even the most seasoned producers scratching their heads.
The new EP consists of three tracks, the final of which features vocals by Grammy-nominated R&B vocalist BJ The Chicago Kid. On the three-track collaboration, Tennyson and Mr.Carmack bring a unique style together filled with a blend of exciting electronic noise, infectious bass, and creative chemistry that hasn’t been found in the underground for a long time.
All three tracks represent days of the week. “Tuesday”, “Wednesday”, and “Thursday” are all breakout tracks on the EP. Especially “Thursday”, being the track that jump-starts fans into being excited for what is next to come with creative sounds infused by wicked transitions.
