Prince-affiliated crew, New Power Generation, are gearing up for a 2017 tour.
According to Billboard, the group will reunite for at least one show, with more to be announced. The New Power Generation, sometimes referred to as The NPG, were the backing band of Prince. They backed the late artist on his early ’90s releases and were last active in 2013, before he returned to working with 3rdeyegirl.
The NPG reunited last October for a Prince tribute concert and will be making their return debut at Celebration 2017 at the artist’s Paisley Park compound on April 23rd. They have also now been confirmed to play Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on May 22 in California, a show that will be recorded as they go into new writing sessions.
In addition to the announcement of the group’s return, they have revealed a handwritten note from Prince himself. You can see the full note below, courtesy of Billboard, and stay tuned for more news about The NPG’s forthcoming tour dates.
