The Canadian electronica band Moscow Noir has stunned us with this mesmerizing music video for their experimental single “ODISEA,” the opening track off their self-titled album from this previous summer.
The totally trippy black and white video was directed and animated by Lesther Gutirrez, the band’s front man, with the help of an ex-colleague. The video has been a passion project of Gutirrez’s for the last 6 months.
Gutirrez samples from a wide variety of genres to create his unique sound. With bases in rock, house music, experimental and trance, Moscow Noir is known for creating complex, hypnotic soundscapes with inspired hints from Joy Division, Moderat, Radiohead and Muse, to name a few.
“ODISEA” is a testament to forward-thinking, creativity, and the unexplored depths of the human psyche. The track contains powerful, euphoric synths and haunting, atmospheric undertones. The video is a hypnotic display of intricate black and white animation, perfect for soothing the overworked mind. As images collapse and morph into the next the watcher can feel the weight of the world melt away. Contrasting the subject of human spirituality with elements of science-fiction, ‘Odisea’ strives to take audiences on a soul-awakening journey.
