If you haven’t heard yet, this year’s Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois truly kicked off the summer festival vibes. Located for the first time at Adams/Medill Park, this massive fest left concertgoers not only wanting, but needing more.
With a setup similar to Coachella, there were multiple smaller stages at SAMF, along with two main stages that were simply fantastic and full of fireworks and flames. The coolest part? The Corona Beach Oasis stage had a photo booth and huge air vents to keep attendees cool. Although the tunes were bumpin’ all three days, the rides, the Chicago cooling bus and the fantastic food really completed the weekend. Much loved Chicago establishments like Cheesie’s Pub & Grub and Quang Noodle were in attendance, and they surely didn’t disappoint.
It was clear that the most popular song to mix at this year’s event was “iSpy” by Lil Yachty; tons of DJs put their own unique twist on the track. Whenever I see an amazing artist at a show, I immediately go home and look for when they’re on tour text! Delivering that news to all of you, I recommend to keep an eye out for JAUZ, Malaa, Headhunterz, and legend Armin van Buuren. They absolutely killed their performances.
Although many people assumed that a festival that goes from 1-10 p.m. would be “so-so,” it was clear that everyone was more than happy with the change in scenery. Watching the Chicago sunset with the skyline placed in the background was surely an unforgettable experience for everyone.
As if the three-day madness wasnt enough, the afterparties were the talk of the town. On Saturday night, Marshmello and Keys N Krates performed, while Mr. Carmack & What So Not took over Concord Music Hall on Sunday and delivered the sets of a lifetime. If you’re already anxious to buy next year’s ticket, don’t feel like you’re alone. We cannot wait to see what React Presents delivers next.
