A quarter century for producing music is quite a long time. Maurizio Colella, better known by his transitional house music moniker EDX, has released an impressive and iconic tune called “Voyage,” which takes us through his journey of music production over the last 25 years. He is known for his ability to effortlessly transition between deep house, future house, and progressive house music with signature bass lines.
“Voyage” starts with a beautiful orchestral introduction, featuring a synth arpeggio, strings, tribal calls, and wildlife samples. It morphs into the signature EDX bass line and kick that everybody knows and loves. Around the halfway point, the wildlife samples continue while the arpeggio takes hold and steers the listener into yet another sonic journey for the rest of the tune. For the latter half of “Voyage,” EDX goes strong with the gritty bass line and massive kick drum.
The track is much deeper and longer than usual. It’s actually a journey between the different genres of music that I’ve explored as EDX. It celebrates my love for traveling through sound, the wanderlust, the voyage.
EDX is continues to tour the world with his Sirup Music Group, supporting huge and new talents. His relevance within the music industry is more important and influential now than it ever has been the past 25 years. Check out EDX’s tour dates below.
