The French trap DJ/producer and Quality Goods Records label head has confirmed previous speculations that he is in fact, DJ Troubl. The 2-time DMC World Champion also revealed that he previously produced house records under the moniker Plezier. And as he teased a few weeks ago, he has decided to lose his anonymity and go head-first into the world without keeping his identity a secret any longer.
He explains, “At the beginning of the UZ project it was fun, but also really difficult to keep the identity secret. I had to hide, not speak too much, be discreet, walk behind everybody, and wait until everybody had gone to be able to leave the club. I mean it was a whole process, people had to sign NDAs and not talk about me. After a while I felt kind of isolated, and often had to stay alone. It started to bother me a little bit. I never really wanted to reveal but I wanted to have more contact with people.”
UZ’s identity reveal comes just in time for the release of his highly anticipated Layers LP. The 11-track albums features collaborations with Plezier (himself), Gia, Oski, Stooki Sound, QUIX, and more. Take a listen below and get excited for a fully candid journey with UZ from here on out.
