The Grammy-nominated DJ, record producer, restauranteur, fashion and music executive has put together an exciting 10-track collection of party-ready tunes, showcasing a crossover hip-hop sound. Premiered at his exclusive concert event hosted by AOL’s Build Series, the project includes collaborations with some of hip-hop’s biggest figures, including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Migos, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, T Pain, ILOVEMAKONNEN and more. He also keeps his electronic identity intact with features from Yellow Claw, DVBBS, Big Gigantic, and more.

“When I was in the studio working on this project or a song with someone that made it to the album, they brought their own crew, and I’d turn around and be like, ‘this squad is like a colony,’” explains Aoki in regards to the album’s title. “We’re like a colony, because it just felt like the energy in the room was more vibrant. It was a lot of energy from people flowing from the studio, and I loved that think tank, that group collaboration, and spirit.”

“I’m definitely an artist that likes to cross out of the lines, color outside of the lines, working with all sorts of different genres.” – Steve Aoki

KOLONY marks Aoki’s progression from dance music superstar to accomplished hip-hop producer. The wide range of features on display throughout the album showcases his ability to morph between different genres while keeping his millions of fans happy. The album acts as unadulterated reassurance that Aoki plans to dominate the scene throughout the rest of 2017 and beyond.
