One of the progenitors of electronic music and platinum selling artist, Paul Oakenfold, is getting ready to tell the “not quite true” story of his life with his first ever book, a graphic novel.

Z2 Comics announces The Wonderful World of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold and Friends, which will include an original soundtrack composed by the DJ. Oakenfold is collaborating with a list of renowned indie graphic novel artists, including Chris Hunt (Carver), Tyler Boss and Ian McGinty.

The graphic novel, which will be published on November 21, helps to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oakenfold’s legendary trip the white island of Ibiza. The trip sparked the creation of club culture as it is known today as well as his legendary DJing career. The novel goes through his historic career rise to fame, fortune and music nirvana and all of the collaborations he’s been a part of. It will highlight different parts of his life from his residency at CREEM Magazine to drinking absinthe with Hunter S Thompson and touring with U2.

“When you think of DJs and electronic music, you immediately think of Paul Oakenfold,” said Sridhar Reddy, Z2 Comics Co-Publisher. “It’s an honor to publish his first book.”

Each book is accompanied by an original soundtrack that’s only available with a purchase of the book. This month, the publisher will release Murder Ballads, the highly anticipated rock ’n’ roll noir graphic novel about the music industry.

“We think bringing together music and graphic novels can be the secret sauce of Z2 Comics,” said Josh Frankel, Z2 Comics Co-Publisher. “Our goal is to work closely with musicians and graphic novel creators to create a unique experience, where the music informs the narrative of the graphic novel and vice versa.”

The Wonderful World of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold and Friends will be on sale in comic book stores and bookstores, and will retail for $24.99.
