The highly anticipated music video for “Ghost Voices” by Virtual Self, Porter Robinson’s new alias, was released yesterday and his fans couldn’t be more excited. Since he released his first Virtual Self EP just three months ago, “Ghost Voices” has proven to be the biggest hit.

The video is set with computers and technology from the early 2000s, which is his inspiration for this alias as well as the music video. Robinson has labeled his genre as Neotrance and has definitely brought back some of the old sounds that we all miss from original EDM. Characters known as Technic-angel and Pathselector are also seen in the music video.

“One of the main motifs of Virtual Self’s visual style are these little snippets of ethereal, arcane-sounding and vaguely-technological language,” Robinson States. “I’d say that these things aren’t about conveying a specific meaning, but rather about conveying a certain kind of atmosphere. I see the video that way, too.”

Personally, this is my favorite song of the new year and I can’t wait to see what else he has to offer. Congrats on being able to make your newest masterpiece a huge success, Porter! Check out the full video below!
