It may all seem like one big blur, but ultimately, Ultra Music Festival and the Winter Music Conference (WMC) that are held at the end of March in Miami every year are two separate events. The exciting news is that a merger has finally been made between the two, and that means bigger events, with better coordination.

The expansion is a win on both ends as Ultra plans to host more music conferences globally to spread knowledge about the business of electronic dance music. Ultra and the Winter Music Conference had coincided harmoniously until 2010, where they had a massive falling out. All of that is in the past now as Ultra wants to “reboot” the WMC and has already released statements from Ultra Music Festival Marketing Manager Albert Berdellans announcing the buyout.

On the other hand, the Winter Music Conference co-founder Bill Kelly was quoted, “It’s been in the works for a couple of years, I’ve been biting my tongue.”

Ultra Music Festival also acquired the International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs), further broadening its already expansive footprint in the dance music industry. The IDMAs, which generate thousands of votes annually from music enthusiasts in 209 countries and territories, recognize and honor exceptional achievements in various award categories, are running concurrently with WMC.

Ultra Music Festival Miami is set to kick off this weekend from Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 25 at Bayfront Park, rain or shine, and tickets are 100 percent sold out! Ultra also recently expanded to China, in the nation’s capital city of Beijing.

Ultra Music Festival’s 20th Anniversary will be streaming live starting at 3 p.m. EDT at ultramusicfestival.com.
