Dirtybird Records’ head honcho Claude VonStroke turned out the two-tune, classic and tech house record Walay (My Bae). Wacky wording, offbeat hi-hat cymbals and synthesized basslines with a kick drum-driven pulse spread Claude VonStroke’s merry message in “Walay.” Completing this extended play’s overall yin/yang dynamic is the sinister, steely techno rhythm of “Raw Nerve.” Catch Claude VonStroke’s Barclay Crenshaw performing this season at Dirtybird BBQ 2018, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Electric Forest, Movement Music Festival and Tomorrowland.
“The vocal chains were very different,” said Crenshaw. “For ‘Walay,’ I used an electro harmonix vocoder as the temp vocal, but then, I hate to re-create it in software because the gate was so extreme on the pedal. For ‘Raw Nerve,’ it was a very complex group of tracks in every register, and then, I used a secret plugin I really don’t want to give away. I also worked very hard on creating a massive stereo field.”
