RL Grime has debuted a brand new future pop single, “Light Me Up” (feat. Miguel & Julia Michaels), ahead of his forthcoming album, NOVA.

Premiered as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 on Apple Music, the song will be released with his full-length album this Friday. Revealed in an exclusive interview, the song was originally a demo created by Diplo, who executive produced the album. RL Grime goes onto discuss how NOVA “feels like an evolution” and reveals he was ready to make “lighter records.”

“There’s obviously still some darker moments, but the whole album feels like an evolution for me to step into, like you said, a broader space and allow me to have these moments of light, summery feel to them, you know?” He also goes on to reveal additional collaborations from the album. “There’s songs with Ty Dolla $ign and TK Kravitz and obviously the Jeremih, Tory Lanez stuff, but there’s also some with like this dude Jeremy Zucker, who’s awesome. We wrote this emo-ballad that’s the last song on the album. It’s definitely a step in a different direction for me but I’m super proud of it.”
